A carbon recovery unit follows a grid of coordinates programmed by a central recovery protocol. Carbon levels measured a saturation beyond the limit of natural recovery, leading to the deployment of CRU—a swarm of artificial ocean carbon recovery units. Paired with an ODT, the CRUs embark on their mission, recover the carbon, and return for scrubbing. Unit 68-A85 never returned.
